Crossroads Winemakers Collection Hawkes Bay Syrah 2014

For over 25 years, Crossroads has represented the very best of small parcel winemaking in Hawke's Bay.

The Winemakers Collection includes the very best parcels of fruit, carefully selected from our own vineyards, crafted with passion into the most exceptional wines Hawke’s Bay has to offer. The Syrah grapes for this 2014 vintage were sourced from the Elms vineyard, in the famed Gimblett Gravels. After post ferment maceration on skins, the batches went into French barriques, 20% of which were new. The wine remained in barrel for fourteen months to develop complexity and weight, and extract toasted characters and fine integrated tannins. The additional 5 years bottle age has resulted in something truly very special.

This exquisite Syrah has complex aromas of dark berries and plum with hints of violets and pepper on the nose. The palate is rich with refined, with silky tannins and a long spicy finish. Match with venison, duck and roast beef. 13.5% abv. Drinking perfectly now but will continue to develop over next 5 - 10 years.
