McArthur Ridge Central Otago Pinot Noir 2020

Around 1870 James McArthur arrived in the Waikerikeri Valley in Strathclyde, Central Otago, on the outskirts of Alexandra. At that time and in fact until the 1990s the land bordering the farm was like a desert, it was then that a source of water was acquired.

The current McArthur Ridge vineyard was established in 2001, with a vision that combines crafted winemaking with viticulture on a significant scale. The vineyards clear goal was to bring central otago to pinot noir lovers around the world through distinctive wines, which are exciting yet affordable.

This 2020 pinot is simply stunning! The fruit for this wine was hand harvested. Aromatically, the wine exhibits dried herb, mushroom and dark spice. The core has an uplifted vibrant fresh fruit spectrum. It exhibits plums, cherries and ripe strawberries. The palate confirms flavours of char, spice, juicy berries and wild herbs leading to an elegant textural mouthfeel showing minerality, great balance and finish. 13.5% abv.
